Art Program

art-program-header

The art program at All Saints Catholic Academy is directed by Mrs. Juliet O’Neil.  There is also an art club that meets after school to augment teaching and advance technique.

art-program-painting2Each year she works with the students to select a theme that informs all the work they do from August through June.  In year’s past themes have included New York City, The Circus, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party,  Our Big Backyard, or Tour de France just to name a few.  Then, whether with acrylics, pastels, paper mache, ink prints, etc., Mrs. O’Neil uses her careful critiquing process and elegant skills to help students see their piece in a new way and walks them through the techniques that allow them to take it to the next level.  Parents are stunned every year at the work their students are capable of.

art-program-painting1When you hear the term “art show” what you envision is probably not like Mrs. O’Neil’s art show.  Students keep their artwork at school all year and at the end of the year Mrs. O’Neil transforms the multipurpose room into a scene from the theme in a major way.  Whether it’s beanpoles reaching 30 feet into the air with a giant glaring down from the clouds, a rabbit hole you duck through to enter another world, or a floor to ceiling replica of the Eiffel Tower, this is not your average art show but a full on experience!
