I began teaching at Bishop Marshall in 2009.  I absolutely love my job and absolutely love teaching 3rd grade.

I am not a native Vermonter.  My roots are in the Midwest-Logansport, Indiana.  I am one of six kids from a good ole Irish Catholic family.  The older I get the more and more I come to realize my parents really knew what they were doing when it came to raising my brothers and sister and me.  They are amazing people and are now my ideal of what parenting looks like.  It only took me about 30+ years to come to that conclusion.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History and English, I joined AmeriCorps NCCC which is a federal volunteer program.  AmeriCorps brought me to the east coast where I worked alongside 10 other volunteers for one year doing projects from teaching in inner city Baltimore to Habitat for Humanity in Yonkers, New York where we lived in the projects housing complex to restoring a Nike Missile site from the Cold War on Sandy Hook Island, New Jersey.  One amazing year of service led me to sign on for an additional year as a crew leader.  My team and I took on many construction projects.  I worked for my grandpa’s family construction company growing up so being able to read blue prints was a rare skill for a volunteer to have.  We restored a YMCA camp in Norwich, Massachusetts and built more houses this time in Albany, New York along with many other projects.

Life on the east coast was great so I stayed out here and moved to Vermont.  I met my husband the week that I moved to Vermont.  A few years later we married and now are blessed with three kids, Meredith,  Jack, and Will, and our other wild child, Bella, our golden retriever.   I began teaching at Waterville Elementary School and was accepted into the Masters of Elementary Education program through Johnson State College.  Working in schools from Waterville to Cambridge and then Essex and now finally at Bishop Marshall is how I plan to spend the rest of my days. I am happy to say that I feel a great fit.
