In October of 2014, the 4th grade class at All Saints Catholic Academy got a worm bin and 1 pound of red wigglers. We had learned about how worms can turn food scraps into really good fertilizer, but we wanted to see it actually happen. Each week after we got the bin, we fed the worms scraps from the kitchen. However, we did not check what was going on underneath the scraps until the end of the year. On the last day of school, our teacher took out the top layers of the compost and the worms. What did she discover? Well, our worms had been busy, and there was beautiful rich soil underneath. Although our worms are small, they sure worked hard continuing the cycle of life. God really knew what he was doing when he created the earth and all of its wonderful creatures.
