Morrisville Bypass and All Saints Catholic Academy

One of the more prominent things you’re likely to notice on the first day of school will be the progress being made on the new bypass going in next door (did you know they have been planning this for over 20 years?). While there is a lot going on and a lot of machinery rushing around, here is what you need to know:

The world’s largest speed bump

When you first pull into the All Saints Catholic Academy driveway, you may be overcome by what can best be described as a Dukes-of-Hazard-type feeling; remain calm, don’t punch the accelerator, and keep two hands on the wheel. What looks like the world’s largest speed bump is actually the portion of the road that’s been built up to match the grade of what the new road will look like for the bypass. They are doing an excellent job of keeping the traveled portion packed down and it’s very passable, despite the intimidating look. Maybe just chalk it up to really early practice for mud season.

Drop-off and pickup

There will be no construction traffic at the times of drop-off and pickup. It’s that simple. If you’ve been passing through the area recently or during the summer it has been very busy but things around the school will be tempered down just for us.

It wont last forever

The Morrisville bypass is a 3-year project and we are in year 2. Come winter, construction will be put on hold (just one more reason to be thankful that winter is the

longest season up here!) until resuming in the spring. While we don’t have official dates of when things will stop/resume, we can be thankful that a major portion of the school years occurs during the winter months and that we’re almost through what could very well be the hardest part.

The school will be putting out more information shortly so please stay tuned and really, thanks for being patient with it all! There is little we can do to about it and the bypass will be a good thing for this area.
