Lamoille Valley Rail Trail - Shared Use Path at All Saints Catholic Academy

Shared Use Path at All Saints Catholic Academy

Posted by The Board of Trustees at the All Saints Catholic Academy

Dear All Saints Catholic Academy Families,

Many studies show the importance of fitness and movement in a child’s life. The more active a community is the easier it is for a child to acquire the skills that will stay with him or her over a lifetime. As All Saints Catholic Academy moves to the future, we as a board are dedicated to finding new ways to incorporate different athletics and activities at the school. We look to leave a footprint on the lives of our students and the greater Lamoille Valley community of which we are a part. As partners in the spiritual, physical, and mental health development of your child, we look for your input. Sometimes it is a concern, sometimes it is an idea, and sometimes it is just a comment. Please join us at our board meeting on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 6:00pm when we host the Lamoille Planning Commission to hear about a proposed Stowe-Morristown Shared Use Path.

What is a Shared Use path? According to the Stowe-Morristown Shared Use Path Scoping Study final report dated 8.22.14, “The purpose of the Stowe Morristown Shared Use Path is to promote non – motorized travel and generally create a better link between the two communities in a way that allows access for the widest range of ages and abilities of bicyclists and pedestrians as possible to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT), the Stowe Recreation Path, the village schools, the two village areas themselves, the numerous other destinations in between these two areas and the larger region via the LVRT.”

In the final report, the Lamoille Planning Commission indicated that they were interested in accessing some of our land as part of this project. While we are interested in listening to what their vision is, we have not agreed to anything. The board will be speaking with the Lamoille Planning Commission at our October board meeting and we would love to hear from our All Saints Catholic Academy community. We invite you to access information about the Shared Use Path in anticipation of the October 13 meeting by clicking on the link below: http://www.lcpcvt.org/vertical/sites/%7B3C01460C-7F49-40F5-B243-0CA7924F23AF%7D/uploads/Stowe-Morristown_Shared_Use_Path_DRAFT_final_report.pdf. If you are unable to make it to the meeting, please feel free to send comments and questions prior to October 11, 2014 to trustees@allsaintsvt.org.

May God bless you with peace and good will.
